Something I've noticed too: Black women seem to be more willing to 'settle' with a certain calliber of men. I think that's why I'm considered choosy; because most of them DIDN'T hold men to higher standards and simply took what came along. Well ladies, a note for you; there are enough baby mommas and babies born out of wedlock, you certainly don't need me adding to that problem. The last thing I want out of life is to end up the single mother of two kids by a dude name Dyreek who can't seem to pay child support, is always late to his job at the car wash and always one screw up short of ending back up in Sing Sing. I don't mean to be so judgemental, I hate doing that, but let's face it. That happens. Especially here in Harlem. I don't know how all these young women get drawn into the same cycle. The men I've recently run into seem to follow one general rule; Mentally Stable, Attractive, Single--choose two. Either they're too immature ( ie, still playing cartoon card games, addicted to video games, overdosing on anime, and weaing eye-liner on a regular basis ) or too damn old ( my limit is early 30's ).

I swear, some men that approach me look like they've been on 'To Catch a Predator' once or twice. Or worse, they have a 'frat boy' mentality. Don't get me wrong, I'm not big on video games, but I have a few I enjoy playing every so often ( The commercials for the game Halo: ODST look ORGASMIC. I've never played Halo, but those commercials are making me jump on the bandwagon quick, fast and in a hurry. And everyone knows Fallout 3 was amazing ). But when you take it to far; using ALL your free time for video games, video game tournaments, trading card game tournaments, that's when it gets gross. I think experiences like that are the exact reason I prefer older men.

So, I've decided I'm not going to actively search for anyone. I'm going to let fate/time/accidents bring me to him. I honestly don't mind waiting. I've got some reading to start catching up on and college will keep me pretty busy. Plus I'm hoping to find work by next month, not to mention, listening to the new Chevelle Album ( Sci-Fi Crimes ) and finding some creative inspiration in them will do me so good. Goodness, that album is delicious.
