Relationships that practice openness are built on many ethical values such as mutual trust, loyalty, and respect, as well as rejection of jealousy and possessiveness.
In an unhealthy relationship the lack of communication allows secrecy, which causes potentially negative consequences.
Why is it difficult to find compatible partners who value openness?

oh that simple, we hide behind our right to have secrets. You know how it is when we leave out pertinent information about a topic. I personally dont agree with Jammer2 about honesty is admitting we all have secrets. I believe that is just acknowledging it as a fact and respect can be far more genuine than accepting secrets as a part of a relationship...but that is my opinion.

Are you sure you`re not confusing openness with honesty?
Everyone has secrets...honesty is admitting it, loyalty is expecting your partner to respect your right to have a secret and your returning that respect in kind..IMHO
