Recently I've noticed that the qualities I most look for in a leader are being ridiculed.
If a candidate displays a shred of intelligence, she/he's labelled as 'talking down' to one group or the other. If they display awareness of world affairs, they're out of touch with the common people of america. God forbid they speak and carry themselves like a college grad and have earned a little money by working for it, now they're 'elitist' and have forgotten their roots.
I WANT a president that's smarter than me. I WANT a president that worked, earned a living and was sucessful at it, who's NOT a professional politician.
I NEED a president that realizes he's president of all the USA,not just the folks that voted for him.
Honesty? To tell the truth,(haha) he can lie all he wants, JUST NOT TO US!
I want someone who will do everything he can to make the country what it should be; a refuge of freedom and chance for anyone willing to try, willing to do, not just talk.
The president SHOULD be special, not just some guy.
Or am I expecting too much?

If I promise to let another guy bring a gun to our knife fight and then keep that promise, am I a man of honor or a fool?

How about someone who keeps his/her word? The reason I voted for McCain is that Barack broke his word on financing. First he said he would take public financing , then he didn't. This turned me off. He didn't keep his word to a man of honor.

Well, give Hamilton County credit, when they get it right, they really get it right...
BTW, are all your white friends really so down in the dumps, or are they starting to realize that they're part of something special?

Actually I really don't know, it's like all political conversation has come to an abrupt halt since the election, so I'm not really hearing anything pro or con....Seems like everyone is just taking a 'wait and see' attitude.

I never thought I would see the day whites of america would vote a black man for president...the world has truly changed...

YOU"RE surprised? read this, from the Cincinnati Enquirer;
(Cincinnati is county seat for my very conservative Hamilton County)

To all the barriers Barack Obama broke Tuesday, add this: He became the first Democrat to win Hamilton County since Lyndon Johnson's 1964 landslide against Barry Goldwater.

Final, unofficial results have Obama winning 52 percent of the vote in a county once considered the GOP's ace in the hole - the rare urban county in a swing state that consistently votes Republican.

Not any more.

Last week, Time magazine called Hamilton County one of "the new battlegrounds."

On Election Night, Fox News called it "a swing county inside a swing state."

And by Wednesday morning, Hamilton County had cemented its status as a bellwether.

CNN anchor John Roberts recapped the national election this way: "It is probably Hamilton County that gave Barack Obama Ohio. That was what really began to seal the deal. Florida, Virginia - just gravy on top of that."

This woman thinks she will be in charge of the Senate. She doesn't even know what position she is running for! She is now claiming the budget will be balanced in the first term. And she talked to a prankster for 7 minutes who said he was the leader of France - until he told her it was a prank - and he did not even have a french accent! Her ignorance and stupidity seem more apparant each day. She is McCains choice and if this is an indication of his decision making I don't want him running this country.

Quoting lexusman:

Question: What is America ?s first line of missile interceptor defense that protects the entire United States ?

Answer: 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard.

Question: What is the ONLY National Guard unit on permanent active duty?

Answer: 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard

Question: Who is the Commander in Chief of the 49th Missile Defense Battalion of Alaska National Guard?

Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

Question: What U.S. governor is routinely briefed on highly classified military issues, homeland security, and counter terrorism?

Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

Question: What U.S. governor has a higher classified security rating than ei the r candidate of the Democrat Party?

Answer: Governor Sarah Palin, Alaska

According to the Washington Post, she first met with McCain in February, but nobody ever found out.

This is a woman used to keeping secrets. She can be entrusted with our national
security, because she already is.
you may want to call that guy yourself and ask him again because as gov of a state as vital to national defense as Alaska is she is required to have clearences and direct knowledge of strategic defense initiatives, you have the answers right here before your very eyes read them.

Sure wish the McCain camp had made all this known earlier in the campaign, not that it matters now, with this economic meltdown, the presidential race is all but sealed and has become a sideshow to the economy.....

Andrew Jackson was the first Democrat ever to be associated with the donkey symbol for his populist beliefs and slogan, "Let the people rule."
The same cartoonist drew a donkey clothed in lion's skin, scaring away all the animals at the zoo. One of those animals, the elephant, was labeled "The Republican Vote." That's all it took for the elephant to become associated with the Republican Party.

Doesn't seem to have much relevance to political party characteristics to me...but then again maybe in 1874 I would have laughed.

Some day I want to be provost of a University, not president, because presidents at the university level have to be rich, know a lot of people, make a lot of money, and be really really smart. Whereas a provost just has to be smart =) I think Pres of the US should possess more superior qualities than just a pres of a university. In my humble opinion.

Isn't it amazing how much effort the two sides put into tearing each other down instead of presenting solutions to the problems we have? Although I must say, Barack is really trying to focus on the needed changes and not the superficial cosmetic stuff, much more so than John
McBush

it would appear that the republicans want someone in the chair that they can control and the democrats want someone in the chair that CAN control... which one is the elephant and which one is the jack-a33...???

might have better luck sending a wish list to santa claus...

what gets me is this:

The Democrats just had basically an all out street fight to decide who would represent there party..

Now the best that the Republican challenger can say is that the Democrats will raise taxes.. Just sounds too old fashion and clssical to me.. I would think that he'd be more tactical and strategic..

]quote[ Or am I expecting too much?]quote[

1st... we live in an imperfect world...
2nd ... your wish list involves politicians
3rd... the variables are close to infinite...
4th... the expectations commendable...
5th... the results exponential
add to that the fact that this an interracial site,
the results incomprehensible....

or in simpler terms...as in a mathematical or scientific equation or as obtuse as a kitchen recipe... the end results are totally defendant on the 'quality of the ingredients...
