(Revised 7/18 - just broke a rule but original post is below.)

Blogging Etiquette or What I Learned on My First Blog Experience

1. Never revise a post even if it is within a few minutes. Add a new post if you need to clarify. Seems this is a BIG no-no and everyone will be on your head if you do so.

2. Never delete a post. If you do so, again, everyone will be on your head.

3. If you are provoked to anger do not post at that moment! Wait until you are calm and rational or you may regret it. See 1 & 2.

4. Never respond to crazy people. You may not be aware at first that this person is but you will see it over time - ignore them and they may go away.

5. If someone is making insulting / abusive attacks on you on a daily basis you are NOT allowed to delete their post. Those here feel 'freedom of speech' includes this behavior and it is not up to you to decide your feelings but is in the hands of the higher-ups.

Any others....?

Am wondering where LyAustin went. She disappeared from the site with her postings. She seemed melancholy...

Quoting LyAustin:

Hi,

I just read your blog because it's my first time blogging and I was a victim of one thing...the writing one everyday part...but anyway...guess it makes since...I would assume no one wants to know my EVERYDAY feelings right? Thanks!

don't stop, especially if you're moved to tap the keyboard... and you show a classic definition of what a blog is...whether a daily entry or a continuous one... if you haven't seen 'finding forrester'... take the time...
you have a way with words...

I don't want to start yet another blog so will ask the question here.
I see this comment on many peoples profiles

'This comment is hidden. Others can contact the comment owner for more information'.

and wondering what it means. I am no longer a member so can not contact these people. On one persons profile there were 11 comments and they all said the same thing. Might it be a negative comment? Why would 11 women have comments they can not post?

In response to #4: My brother told me a while back, "Never argue with a fool because from afar you can't tell whose who."

Yes. I was feeling I was starting to behave in the same way so left the site for a time.

Miss Austin,
My interpretation of what Jean was saying is that it may be easier for people to keep track of your blogging if it were all on one blog about your daily life/experience/feelings rather than creating a different blog each day. You keep blogging all you want.

Thank you for clarifying Dave.

People here don't use the blogs in a typical manner. Typically a blog is where you do and can write everyday. Usually you have one blog and add to that whenever you want. But, like I said people here don't use it that way. And people write about topics which would be in the forums. I have deleted those 2 items - hey, I am also new to blogs. So go for it, however you feel comfortable.

Original post.
(Revised 7/18. Removed first item as it sounded sarcastic. Removed second item as not my place to determine this.)

Blogging Etiquette
or
What I Learned and Observed on My First Blog Experience

1. Do not start a new blog for each day even if nothing is new in your life. Continue adding your comments on your original blog. To do this go to your original blog, click on the comment button, add your thoughts.
2. If you are looking for a certain kind of person, please do not start a blog but go to the forum message board and post there. That is where everyone is looking for the information.
3. Never revise a post even if it is within a few minutes. Add a new post if you need to clarify. Seems this is a BIG no-no and everyone will be on your head if you do so.
4. Never delete a post. If you do so, again, everyone will be on your head.
5. If you are provoked to anger do not post at that moment! Wait until you are calm and rational or you may regret it. See 3 & 4.
6. Never respond to crazy people. You may not be aware at first that this person is but you will see it over time - ignore them and they may go away.
7. If someone is making insulting / abusive attacks on you on a daily basis you are NOT allowed to delete their post. Those here feel 'freedom of speech' includes this behavior and it is not up to you to decide your feelings but is in the hands of the higher-ups.

I have been here less than 2 months and am sure there are other rules I am not aware of. Maybe those who have been here longer will let us know what these are...
