Im not explaining this time in detail what the topic is (someone else can if they want) but..

1)I think it was at least disrespectful.. I wont go into the other extreme..

2)The chief of police may turn his head on a lawless cop. They DONT dress him up like Hitler..

3)Far right influences?

4)In defense of McCain.. He made a good comment.. Even if he is overshadowed by his rival..He has to show in the eyes of God fearing people that.. 1) He has guts, intestinal fortitude, or cajones ..2) he has some idea or semblance of how to be a good man..Putting politics and ego aside..

5) Ive asked in the past exactly who does the magazine " The New Yorker" cater to.. I guess its a loaded answer.. Now I know..

6) Some will say freedom of speech.. Still think that was disrespectful especially when that kind of picture was take off the Tennesee Republican website by the head of the Republican party and Tennesee Republican senators..

7) Maybe its a blessing in disguise..And "He" can play on [ the "politics of fear created by far right and the media?]

8)Think the country may be a little ignorant about the fist tap.. A guy bounding with his spouse.. It was created in the bathroom because you may not want to shake someones hand in the bathroom..Plus a fist tap is quick..

9) The eloquence, demeanor and articulation, and speed at collecting his thoughts, of the late Johnny Cocharan would really be appreciated here!!

10) If some of this flies over many heads its ok...

I think it is just to sell more magazines. Look at the coverage it got on television that day.

the whole thing is a waste of time designed to get you get all bent out of shape and make him waste time talking about that B.S.
instead of what is really important, the state of the economy,if and when the housing problem will be solved, ect. you know real problems not useless B.S that at the end of the day doesn't change a thing.

Quoting mjl1717:

Would have been better if the cover mentioned something like:

This is a satire on our presidential candidate!

Yes!
No text on the cover...no indication no explaination...this is where it failed. Just a few words...

'Misconceptions of Barak Obama'
'Extreme right views of Obama'
'The ignorant take on Obama'
'Misinformation of presidential canidate'

I did not read the article, but the editor was on an early news show and stated that the cover represents how mistaken people are about Obama. He says that when the article is read it will dispute a lot of misconceptions about Obama. I guess my concern is that not many will move past the cover and read the article. And I do not have any ideas, but I think this could have been handled differently.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it...I really thought it was a fake cover that some computer gagster hooked up...
How could a noted, respected mag like New Yorker be so spectacularly, unbelievably, stupid?
Guess I fell down the rabbit hole with Alice...

Some positive could come from this.

Have been reading on this issue all evening on the internet and was thinking, maybe some of the ignorant will see the cover and actually open the magazine and read the article.

And it is all over the television news so those couch potatoes may even get informed.

From CNN PoliticalTicker Blog

Hillary Clinton July 14th, 2008 9:14 am ET

'Barack and Michelle Obama are not radical Muslim terrorists...
as far as I know'.

Is this THE Hillary Clinton?

Since it was the New Yorker my first feeling was it was intentionally meant to slander. Yes, there was an article inside, but many people will only see the cover and it is already plastered on websites.
